I became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2018. I was certified by the National Association of Sports Medicine after studying at the National Personal Training Institute in Santa Monica.
A few months later I began my 200-hour Yoga Instructor training at YogaWorks, and I was surprised at how much my fitness training helped me with my yoga training.
The main thing was that I had learned so much about many of the 600-plus muscles in the human body – how they worked, how they could be injured and stressed, etc.

Throughout my Yoga Master Teacher training I found myself referencing in my mind the muscle chart I had spent hours studying. I would learn and demonstrate a certain Yoga pose and find myself thinking thoughts like, “Ahh, that really stretches the gastrocnemius” or “I can really feel my teres major.”
When I teach I try to keep both disciplines in my mind. I hold the Personal Training discipline in one hand and the Yoga discipline in the other. In other words, I follow the direction of the Buddha and do my best to walk the Middle Path!
